Just Be
Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. John 15: 4-5
I have been meditating on this scripture verse for a couple of days about what it truly means when Jesus says, “Whoever remains in Me and I in him will bear much fruit because, without Me, you can do nothing.” Jesus is calling me to be aware of His presence at all times, whether I feel His presence or not. To understand that all I do without Him is incomplete. He alone completes me. My very essence, my inmost being desires to “just be” with Him at all times. To be with Him in all I say, in all I do, and in all I think.
I wanted to share with you the prayer that surfaced as I contemplated this overwhelming calling to just be with Him.
Just Be
Remain in Me. Be silent.
Without Me, you can do nothing.
Do not move without Me.
Do not breathe without Me.
Do not think without Me.
Do not love without Me.
Let us move together.
Let us breathe together.
Let us think together.
Let us love together.
Let us love each other together.
Let us love others together.
Let us be present to one another.
Let us sit in silence.
Let us just be.

Today, let us understand that without Jesus we are truly incomplete. Let us sit in silence and be aware of Jesus' presence. Let us strive to remain in Him, to “just be” with Jesus in all we say, do, and think.
